MAY GIPPSTAR WINNERS

Congratulations to our May Gippstar winners.

Jack Bateson is our Gippstar Junior monthly winner for the month of May 2023.  Jack is from Newlands Arm and competes in the sport of Clay Target Shooting – Skeet with Bairnsdale Clay Target Club.

Jack competed at the National Skeet Titles in Wagga Wagga. The event ran for 7 days over various Skeet events and sub gauges. Jack competed and represented Victoria in the junior skeet teamu18 and also made the Australian shoulder to shoulder junior team that competed against New Zealand in a postal shoot. Results over 7 days: 11 gold, 1 silver and 3 bronze medals. Jacks results for the weeks event are as follows:
28 gauge sub junior champion; 28 gauge C grade champion; 410 gauge 3rd sub junior; Victorian u18 team won against other states; 20 gauge 3rd sub juniors
20 gauge 3rd C grade; Commonwealth 12 gauge sub junior champion; Commonwealth 12 gauge C grade champion; Made the Australian U18 team and shot 49/50 against New Zealand; National 12 gauge sub junior champion; National 12 gauge C grade Champion; National Doubles sub junior champion; National Doubles C grade 2nd; Champion of Champions sub junior; Champion of Champions C grade; National high gun sub junior; National high gun C grade.
Jack competed at the Victorian State Skeet Titles in both C grade and as a Junior (u18) the event went from the 26th of Jan to the 29th of Jan. Results, Jack won the 28 gauge event in C grade and was second in Juniors (u18). Jack made the Victorian State shoulder to Shoulder Junior Skeet team to represent Victoria at the National Skeet titles. Jack competed in the Junior Postal team and won the high gun for that event. Jack shot consistently enough over the four days of competition to be awarded the overall High gun for C grade for the event.

Sheryl Atkinson is our Gippstar Open monthly winner for the month of May 2023.  Sheryl is from Drouin and competes in the sport of Lawn Bowls.
Sheryl, Drouin Bowling Club Womens Club Champion, defeated previous winner Karen Sheers from Neerim District Bowls Club in a tightly contested final with the result being 25–16. Sheryl applied the pressure from the outset against last year’s champion to achieve a well-deserved victory. This was Sheryl’s third event for the season she had won, following her wins in the State Singles and Triples.
