2026 Tennis Program

The GSA will again run a Tennis program in 2026. The Academy team will be coordinated by the Gippsland Sports Academy Tennis Advisory Panel and Program Staff and will provide a development pathway for regionally based athletes aged between 12-18 years of age.

Head Coach for the 2026 program is Nicole Bauer from Longford Tennis Club in East Gippsland. Nicole has an incredible passion for tennis and is looking forward to helping our tennis athletes reach their full potential.

We are excited to announce a new structure for the 2026 GSA Tennis Program, which has come about after carefully reviewing our program and each athlete’s skills, game understanding, competition experience, attitude, and fitness. The Academy Tennis Program will now have a Performance Squad and Development Squad.

This change means we can make our training sessions even more individualised, so every athlete gets the right level of challenge and support for their stage of development and competitive goals.

The Academy shall also provide off-course services around strength and conditioning, sport science and athlete education to compliment the work being done on the course to develop the Tennis athletes.

What’s Included for Everyone

No matter which squad you’re in, all athletes will enjoy the full GSA Tennis experience, including:

  • Academy training sessions
  • Strength & Conditioning program
  • ACE Education Days
  • Access to Inter-Academy Challenges and selected event opportunities
  • Ongoing athlete monitoring, support, and pathway guidance

The main difference between the two squads will be the focus within each training block, with sessions tailored to help you get the most out of your tennis – whether that’s mastering technique, building match strategy, or preparing for higher-level competition.

We’re really proud of how far GSA Tennis has come and the strong group of athletes emerging across Gippsland. We can’t wait to see what 2026 brings and to keep supporting you on your tennis journey!

The GSA would like to thank the Victorian State Government, Tennis Victoria, Baw Baw, Bass Coast, South Gippsland, East Gippsland, Wellington and Latrobe City Councils for their ongoing support.

We would like to acknowledge TAFE Gippsland and the Gippsland Tennis Clubs who generously provide their facilities for training sessions.

The GSA looks forward to seeing the new athletes grow and develop their skills in this new season.

Alex-Vuillermin-rowing

The Gippsland Sports Academy has played a significant role in shaping me both as an athlete and as a person. From a young age, my involvement in volleyball, progressing into rowing, helped me develop a strong, disciplined mindset of consistency and accountability. The support, coaching, and high-performance environment encouraged me to push through comfort zones while maintaining focus under pressure, while also bridging opportunities with the Victorian Institute of Sport. The Academy also taught me how to carry myself with professionalism and composure on the world stage, representing not just myself but my team, region, and country. The Gippsland Sports Academy will forever hold a place in my heart.
